There are a number of standards and guidelines which directly affect recordkeeping at UNSW.

 

Most significant of these is the Australian Standard on records management, AS ISO 15489, published in March 2002 by Standards Australia.

 

The Standard is split into two sections with general principles and policy followed by a technical guidelines section that includes more detailed recordkeeping guidance.

 

This standard replaced Australian Standard AS 4390-1996 Records Management.

 

The new standard is an Australian implementation of the International Standard on Records Management, ISO 15489, and therefore represents international best practice recordkeeping.

 

The Guidelines for Commercial Activities require that all information relating to proposed commercial activity be recorded on a Registered File.
