    Description
The Curriculum Sub-Committee was established by the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the Academic Board on 15th September, 1988 (resolution 88/14). At the first meeting, held on 23rd September, 1988, it was decided that John Kennedy would be the Presiding Member of the Sub-Committee. The Sub-Committee also determined at this meeting that its main purpose would be to evaluate the aims and objectives of each course in the University and to address the integration of General Education into each course. On 3rd September, 1992 the Undergraduate Studies Committee redesignated all of its Sub-Committees into Committees. The Curriculum Sub-Committee consequently became known as the Curriculum Committee. Due to a review of Standing Committees of the Academic Board, at the Board's June 2, 1998 meeting the responsibilities of the Curriculum Committee were subsumed into the Committee on Education effective August 1998 (resolution AB98/51). The last meeting of the Curriculum Committee took place on 23rd July, 1998. Controlling Organisation: UNSW - 15/09/1988-01/08/1998

The Standing Committee on General Education was established by the Professorial Board on 1st March, 1983 (resolution 83/18). The terms of reference of the Committee were: a)to ascertain and report on a continuing basis on the specific requirements of each faculty for courses in the area of general and contextual education; b)to recommend the range of courses to be offered in 1984 and subsequent years as part of a continuing program of studies in general and contextual education; c)to consider the role of the Board of Studies in General Education and recommend any changes thought to be appropriate; and d)to advise on methods of achieving greater flexibility in student programs. The first meeting of the Committee was on 16th March, 1983 with Professor D. Anderson as Chairman. The Standing Committee remained in existence until the Professorial Board was replaced by the Academic Board. It did, however, continue to meet until the Committees of the Academic Board were finalised. The last meeting of the Standing Committee therefore took place on the 7th September, 1988. Description
The Admission & Progressions Sub-Committee was created by the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the Academic Board on 15th September, 1988 (resolution 88/14). The inaugural meeting was held on 13th October, 1988 with M. C. Schroder as the Presiding Member. At this meeting it was decided that the Sub-Committee's terms of reference were to recommend the educational requirements in terms of which the goals, objectives and standards (of undergraduate education within the University) can be attained, particularly in relation to matriculation, selection, admission, accreditation, assessment and re-enrolment. On 3rd September, 1992 the Undergraduate Studies Committee reclassified all of its Sub-Committees into Committees. The Admission & Progressions Sub-Committee consequently became known as the Admission & Progressions Committee. Due to a review of Standing Committees of the Academic Board, at the Board's June 2, 1998 meeting the Admission & Progressions Committee was disestablished effective August 1998 (resolution AB98/51). Description
The Executive Group is first documented shortly after Professor John Niland took over the position of Vice-Chancellor in July, 1992. Its foundations were, however, based on an initially more informal staff meeting that had begun under the previous Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Birt. The group consisted of the Vice-Chancellor, the two Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the two Deputy Principals (Bursar and Registrar) and the President of the Academic Board; i.e. the Vice-Chancellor, those reporting directly to him and the President of the Academic Board. In early 1995 the Director of Information Services joined the group. This new position also reported directly to the Vice-Chancellor. The first meeting was held on 26th August, 1992 and included Vice-Chancellor John Niland, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Anthony Wicken, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & International) Christopher Fell, President of the Academic Board, Dr Jane Morrison, Registrar Crystal Condous and Bursar Alex Cicchinelli. Administrative arrangements as seen by the VC required significant liaison between those involved with financial planning and those involved with academic planning; with the Vice-Chancellor bearing responsibility for liaison with Council and for overall corporate planning, which encompasses planning to do with academic and financial matters. From the beginning of 1994 the name of the group was changed to Executive Committee. When Professor Rory Hume took up the position of Vice-Chancellor in July 2002, the group's name was changed briefly back to Executive Group, before becoming known as the Senior Management Group from the beginning of August 2004. From the 26 July 2006 meeting, this Committee became known as the Executive Team. Controlling Organisation: UNSW - by 26/08/1992-

    Description
This series consists of the Reports of the Working Parties of the Academic Planning Committee of ADFA, reporting to the Professorial Board of UNSW. The Academic Planning Committee (APC) was involved with the detailed planning of courses, and these working parties were established to take a focused look at the curriculum for specific fields: Arts/Science; Behavioural Science/Management, English Communication; Computer Science; Electrical, Electronic and Commuinications Engineering; Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering. Notices of the Meetings of some of these Working Parties are held with their associated "objectives" or "recommended topics". The material is typed and arranged in folders in chronological order. Reports, in a similar format to committee minutes, are held for the meetings. Later meetings have agendas followed by the attached papers, and then reports. The agendas show the issues to be discussed; the reports show the meeting's attendees and topics discussed; and the papers consist of reports or other submissions that were to be discussed by the party. The final records in this series are from the 10 May 1983 meeting. These reports do not refer to a conclusion of the working parties' activities but the APC's work was concluded in August 1983, therefore the working parties would have been required to deliver their final reports prior to this date.

    Description
The University Union was established by Council on 9 March 1959 (resolution 59/57). At the time it was outlined that a Union be created of which all students shall be compulsory members, and for which a fee shall be collection and in which any member of the University's full-time staff may be a member, this Union to be governed by a Board, and that the Vice-Chancellor be asked to consult with the various sections of the University who have interests in this matter and to submit in due course to the University Council, for its approval, a charter and constitution for such a Union. In July 1960 the first Warden of the Union, Mr Tay Cunningham was appointed, and on 11 July 1960 Council approved the formation of a Developmental Committee to carry on the development of the union pending the setting up of a Board of Management of the Union not later than the end of the first term of the 1961 academic year. 19 meetings of the Union Developmental Committee were held with Professor E. B. Smyth as Chairman and at the final meeting on 23 June 1961, the names of members elected and appointed to the Board of Management were announced. (University Union Annual Report 1961). The first meeting of the Board of Management occurred on 5 July 1961 with Professor E. B. Smyth as Union President. Shortly afterwards, on 27 July 1961, the Union building (later known as the Roundhouse) was officially opened, although it had been used for official functions at least since 19 April 1961 (Origins Uniken Feature, 10 September 1982). From its 3 October 1990 meeting, the Board became known as the Board of Directors. At the 30 November 2005 meeting of the Board it was decided to use that the Union would use the trading name Source commencing from session 1, 2006. It was noted at this meeting, however, that the name of its legal identity was still the University of New South Wales Union. Following the introduction of Voluntary Student Unionism (VSU) by the Commonwealth Government from 1 July 2006, the University Union merged with the Student Guild and COFA Students' Association to form the Arc from the beginning of 2007, as approved by Council at its 6 November 2006 meeting (resolution CL06/87). 2006 was thus the final year of operations for the Union, but its final Annual General Meeting occurred on 30 May 2007 to pass the final set of financial accounts (news@unsw 17 May 2007). Description
The Matriculation Committee was created on the 11th September, 1962 by the Professorial Board from a disbanded Committee on University entrance requirements (resolution 62/242b). It was given the responsibility to report on the query raised by the Academic Committee of Council relating to recognition of external examinations for matriculation purposes, the problems which might arise so far as matriculation is concerned consequent upon the implementation of the revised system of secondary education and the question of matriculation generally for reference to the meeting of the Chairmen of Professorial Board of New South Wales Universities. Initially entitled the Ad Hoc Committee appointed to consider Matriculation Requirements, the Committee first met on 2nd May, 1963, with the Registrar G.L. Macauley as Chairman. By the 25th November, 1963 meeting, however, it was known simply as the Matriculation Committee. Up until the 7th December, 1965 meeting of the Professorial Board the Matriculation Committee met fairly intermittently. On this date, however, the Committee was reconstituted, with Professor R. E. Vowels becoming Chairman (resolution 65/400). The Committee was also charged to review the matriculation requirements previously adopted for the Higher School Certificate with a view to the possible adoption of an aggregate co-ordinated mark for use in connection with admission to the University and the possible consequential changes arising therefrom (resolution 65/399). The Committee remained in existence until the Professorial Board was supplanted by the Academic Board in July 1988. The last meeting of the Committee occurred on 2nd May, 1988.
