The Softball Club started some time around 1968. There was also a Women's Softball Club mentioned during this time, although it appears to be a female team within the Club. It was merged with the Baseball Club during 1975 to create the Baseball / Softball Club.

The Weightlifting Club was orginially part of the Boxing and Weightlifting Club, but separated during 1964 as the Club grow in popularity.

The Table Tennis Club was formed in 1953.

(Act No. 11, 1949) John C Webb, head of Mining Engineering in the Department of Technical Education, was appointed as the first registrar of the university although in a part-time capacity. Under the Act he was responsible for the administrative of the academic aspects of the university and to ensure that all elections associated with the University were conducted according to the by-laws. Mr Webb resigned on 3 Nov 1950 to return to England (BRF - Webb, J C) and was succeeded as part-time registrar by Godfrey Macauley who was an assistant director of Technical Education in the Department of Education. On 1 Nov 1952 Mr Macauley was appointed as the first full-time registrar of the university. (Uniken 15 April 1994: 11) The Division of the Registrar was established through Resolution 427 (Council Meeting, 10 May 1954) under Section 27 of the Technical Education and New South Wales University of Technology Act, 1949. The proclamation of the 'Appointed Day' on 1 July 1954, when full control of the university was invested in Council, saw the division assume greater administrative powers. The work of the division was originally undertaken by Mr Macauley, five clerical officers and three office assistants. In 1961 the official university publication entitled The University of New South Wales defined the work of the division. 'The Registrar, assisted by two Deputy Registrars, is responsible for providing the administrative arrangements relating to the secretarial work of the Council, Professorial Board and Faculties, and the standing committees of these bodies; the admission and enrolment of students; examinations and maintenance of student records; the award of scholarships and admission to degrees; public relations and University publications; and student services generally.' (The University of New South Wales:11) On 13 July 1970 through Council Resolution 70/94 (Council Meeting, 13 July 1970) Mr Macauley's appointment was changed to Assistant Principal and Registrar and the division became known as the Division of the Assistant Principal and Registrar although its functions remained the same. In 1984 the central administration of the university was reorganised into two divisions: Administration and Planning and Information. This necessitated a reorganisation of functions that had once been undertaken by the divisions of the registrar and the bursar. The Deputy Principal (Administration) headed a division which contained the Department of the Registrar, which was responsible for student administration, student services and administrative services, as well as the Property Department and the Personnel Department. (UNSW Annual Report 1985: 9, 66-67) On 17 September 1990 the central administration of the university was reorganised once again. The division was named the Division of the Registrar and Deputy Principal. (resolution 90/84) The reorganisation was undertaken to meet the needs of a major capital works program and new initiatives in the property function as well as changes resulting from the appointment of a second pro-vice-chancellor (UNSW Annual Report 1990: 179-180) The four departments comprising the division were the Student Administration Department; the Administrative Services Department; the Student Services Department; and the Property and Works Department. (04/17/2 Administration Manual - Amendment: Issued 11/90) A report by the NSW state government's Office of Public Management commissioned by the vice-chancellor in mid 1991 saw the Division of the Registrar and Deputy Principal assume additional responsibility for the Legal Office, Staff Office and Senior Appointments Unit. (UNSW Annual Report 1991: 26) However in 1992 the Staff Office and Senior Appointments Unit as well as the capital works function of the Property and Works Department were transferred to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs). (UNSW Annual Report 1992: 171) Professor Niland's appointment as vice-chancellor saw the Ethics Secretariat and the University Press come under the responsibility of the division. (Focus 8 May 1992: 11) In February 2004 the Division was renamed Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and on 1 March 2004 Professor Robert King took up his duties as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Registrar. The division brought together corporate services including UNSW Student Services, Human Resources, Legal Office, Policy Management Unit, Equity and Diversity Unit, Institutional Analysis and Reporting, and Secretariat Services. This series consists of the minutes, agendas and meeting attendance books of the Hockey Club. The items are both typed and hand-written - some are located in bound books, while others are loose papers. They cover both Committee and AGM meetings, though there is not necessary both minutes and agendas for all meetings. The meeting attendance books complement the meetings, as a list of members present is not usually written in the minutes, but rather based on the attendance books. The Archives' holdings of this series are incomplete. It should be noted that many Committee and AGM minutes are also located witihin series 2112 and minutes from the Club pre-1960 can be found in Sports Association papers CN295/58. This series contains papers relating to the grounds, as used by the Hockey Club. The items in the series are contained within manilla folders and focus on the administration of the Club's grounds, including Little Bay and the David Phillips Field, as well as the 2004 Sports Association Needs Analysis. The first Student Affairs Committee to be established by Council was formed on 8th July, 1963 (resolution 63/134). This resolution also determined that the Committee's terms of reference were to receive reports from time to time upon the affairs of the Union, the Students' Union, the Sports' Association and other student organisations and activities together with the services relating to student employment, health, accommodation, welfare and progress and to advise the Council upon such matters. The 1 appendage to the Committee's name has been added by the Archives to separate this Committee from a later Council Committee with the same name. The first meeting of the Committee was held on 14th October, 1963, with Professor R. E. Vowels as Chairman. As a result of the University of New South Wales Act, 1989, on 4th June, 1990 Council disestablished all of the current Standing Committees as of 1st July, 1990 (CL 90/45), including the Student Affairs Committee. The final meeting of the Committee as it was originally constituted occurred on 8th May, 1990. The Bushwalking and Mountaineering Club was established on 3 October 1978 as the result of the amalgamation of the Bushwalkers' Club and the Mountaineering Club. The Club was affiliated with the Sports Association (CN209). In early 2003 the name of the Club was changed to the Outdoor Club. In 2009 the president of the Club was Matthew Perrett. The first meeting of the Pistol Club was held on 11 June 1975, and the Club applied to be affiliated with the Sports Association at that time. In November 1977, the Club was finally forced to cease operation after ongoing discussions with the University. The Vice-Chancellor's "inflexibility relating to club guns on campus" and the Dangerous Weapon & Firearm Act (1973) made it impossible for the Club to continue its activities.

The Department of Civil Engineering dates back to the formation of the university itself on 1 July 1949, as it was one of the departments that had much of its origins in the Sydney Technical College, including the first head of the department, C. H. Munro. Initially Munro only worked part-time as head of department, but from 1 January 1951 he became full-time head and an associate professor (Technology, Vol. 1, No. 2). When the first three university faculties were established by Council on 8 May 1950 (resolution 54), Civil Engineering became one of the initial four departments within the Faculty of Engineering. On 10 September 1951 Council changed the designation of all departments to schools and so the School of Civil Engineering came into existence (resolution 153). On 14 September 1964 three departments - water engineering, structural engineering and surveying - were created within the school (Council resolution 64/180). On 21 April 1997 Council changed the name of the school to the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (resolution CL97/27d). From 1996 - 2005 the Head of School was Professor Ian Gilbert. In 2005 Professor Nicholas Ashbolt took over in this position.
