    Description
    This series consists of the Executive Programs booklets of the Australian Graduate School of Management. The material comes in the form of typed booklets and brochures, which include course outlines and subjects included in the executive program short courses offered by the AGSM. Initially there were only a couple of courses offered each year and focused mainly of the Development Program for Managers (DPM) course, but this gradually expanded over time to cover a large number of other management and business courses. The Archives does not hold any items from this series for 1981 or 1990.

    Description
    As a result of a review of the Faculty of Commerce, on 11 July 1988 Council altered the faculty's name to the Faculty of Commerce & Economics effective from 1 August 1988 (resolution 88/90). At the same time all departments within the School of Accountancy were made either schools in their own right or independent departments. This included the Department of Finance, which became the School of Banking and Finance. On 3 July 2006 Council approved the disestablishment of the Faculty of Commerce of Economics and the Australian Graduate School of Management to form the Faculty of Business (resolution CL06/68), with the inaugural meeting of the faculty taking place on 23 November 2006. On 18 June 2007 Council noted the renaming of the Faculty of Business to the Australian School of Business at UNSW, as approved by the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President of the Academic Board (CL07/33). On 2 July 2014 the Vice-Chancellor's Advisory Committee approved a change in name of the faculty to the UNSW Australia Business School, effective from 23 July 2014.

    On 12 July 1954 Council in principle approved the formation of the Faculty of Commerce and at the same time resolved to establish a foundation chair in Economics (resolution 431iii). On 14 November 1955 (resolution 651) Council accepted the appointment of D. C. Rowan to this chair and so when he took up his position on 1 June 1956, the School of Economics was formed with Professor Rowan as the first head of school. The formal establishment of the Faculty of Commerce was officially approved at the 11th March 1957 meeting of Council (resolution 57/37), with Economics as one of the faculty's first three schools. As a result of a review of the Faculty of Commerce, on 11 July 1988 Council altered the faculty's name to the Faculty of Commerce & Economics effective 1 August 1988 (resolution 88/90). On 3 July 2006 Council proposed the amalgamation of the Faculty of Commerce of Economics and the Australian Graduate School of Management into the newly formed Faculty of Business and consequently the School of Economics became part of this faculty (resolution CL06/68). The inaugural meeting of the faculty took place on 23 November 2006, but by 18 June 2007 the name of the faculty was changed to the Australian School of Business at UNSW (Council resolution CL07/33). On 2 July 2014 the Vice-Chancellor's Advisory Committee approved a change in name of the faculty to the UNSW Australia Business School, effective from 23 July 2014.     Description
    The establishment of the School of Strategy and Entrepreneurship within the Faculty of Business was approved by the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President of the Academic Board effective from 19 March 2007 (file 2002/2060). The first head of school was Associate Professor J. Peter Murmann. On 18 June 2007 the name of the faculty was changed to the Australian School of Business at UNSW (Council resolution CL07/33). At its meeting on 6 December 2011, the Academic Board resolved (resolution AB11/152) that it be recommended that the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President of Academic Board approve the integration of the School of Strategy & Entrepreneurship into the School of Organisation & Management, and, as a concomitant action, the disestablishment of the School of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, and the change of name of the School of Organisation and Management to the School of Management, effective 1 January 2012.     The Faculty Board & Standing Committee of the Faculty of Business / Australian School of Business was created as a result of section 3 of the UNSW Rules. The Faculty committee structure embodied a Faculty Board, a Faculty Standing Committee, a Faculty Research Committee (and optionally a Higher Degree Committee) and a Faculty Education Committee (or optionally an Undergraduate Education Committee & Postgraduate Coursework Education Committee) (Council resolution CL99/81). The Secretariat was only responsible for the Board & Standing Committees - the rest of the Committees were left up to the Faculty. Consequently this series only holds items from the Board & Standing Committees. The material is typed and is maintained in manilla folders with documents generally arranged in chronological order. The minutes are normally presented first, followed by the agenda and any papers that were circulated prior to the meeting. The minutes indicate meeting date, time and place; those present and apologies; matters discussed and resolutions passed by the Faculty. The papers consist of reports or other submissions to be discussed by the Faculty.

    On 4 March 1998 the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Commerce & Economics gave its approval for the introduction of a disciplinary stream in Actuarial Studies within the School of Economics (resolution CEE98/30) and so the Actuarial Studies Unit effectively came into being from this date. In January 1998 Professor Michael Sherris had been initially appointed a Visiting Professor with the faculty to develop the academic programs in the actuarial studies area (file 931102 19 June letter from Professor Roger Layton to Vice-Chancellor Professor John Niland), but soon afterwards he was appointed as a permanent chair and head of the Unit. At some time during 2002 the Actuarial Studies Unit appears to have moved from the School of Economics to the School of Accounting (2002 and 2003 Calendars). On 3 July 2006 Council proposed the amalgamation of the Faculty of Commerce and Economics and the Australian Graduate School of Management into the newly formed Faculty of Business and consequently Actuarial Studies became part of this faculty, seemingly as an independent unit (resolution CL06/68). The inaugural meeting of the faculty took place on 23 November 2006, but by 18 June 2007 the name of the faculty was changed to the Australian School of Business at UNSW (Council resolution CL07/33). At the 2 August 2011 Academic Board meeting it was recommended that the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President of the Academic Board approve the establishment of the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies (replacing the Actuarial Studies Unit) in the Australian School of Business, effective 1 January 2012 (resolution AB11/46).     In a document to the Australian Graduate School of Management Board dated February 1987, it was noted that the Centre for Applied Marketing (CAM) had been approved within the AGSM's Centre for Management Research and Development Ltd (CMRD) by CMRD's Board with Dr J. H. Roberts as the director (file 880749). In the Centre's 1990 annual report, it was stated that Dr Roberts had taken up this appointment on 9 March 1987 and that the main aim of the centre was to conduct major research projects to increase the understanding of consumer behaviour and marketing in the Australian context and to assist Australian marketing managers to apply state of the art techniques (file 2003/2403). On 28 September 1990 the name of the CMRD was changed to AGSM Ltd (file 892164) and so from this date the operations of the Centre fell under this body file (file 2003/2403). In early 1998 the Centre became a joint operation between the Australian Graduate School of Management and the Faculty of Commerce & Economics, with the principle aims of the Centre noted as being to act as a bridge between UNSW and Australian industry to allow for the dissemination of marketing knowledge (file 990795). On 3 July 2006 Council approved the disestablishment of the Faculty of Commerce of Economics and the Australian Graduate School of Management to form the Faculty of Business (resolution CL06/68), with the inaugural meeting of the faculty taking place on 23 November 2006. The Centre thus became a part of this new faculty. On 18 June 2007 Council noted the renaming of the Faculty of Business as the Australian School of Business at UNSW, as approved by the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President of the Academic Board (CL07/33). On 20 August 2007 the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) approved the disestablishment of the Centre effective from 30 September 2007 (file 990795).
