    The inaugural meeting of the Gymnastics Club was held on 4 May 1971. In 1977, following the growth of membership and the differences between the disciplines of gymnastics and trampolining, a division of the Club was to be discussed at the AGM on 4 March.

    Description
    The first meeting of the Pistol Club was held on 11 June 1975, and the Club applied to be affiliated with the Sports Association at that time. In November 1977, the Club was finally forced to cease operation after ongoing discussions with the University. The Vice-Chancellor's "inflexibility relating to club guns on campus" and the Dangerous Weapon & Firearm Act (1973) made it impossible for the Club to continue its activities.

    The Volley Ball Club was re-affiliated with the University of N.S.W. Sports Association in March 1970. It had not previously existed at the University since 1958. The Club has an inclusive focus; being open to "students and non-students, locals and interationals, social and competitive" (http://www.unswvolleyball.org/).

    On 19 February 2007, the first meeting between UNSW, University of Melbourne, National ICT Australia, the Bionic Ear Institute, and the Centre for Eye Research Australia was held to discuss bionic eye research. These parties later formed the consortium Bionic Vision Australia (BVA), which officially launched in 2010. The business plan was finalised in October 2008 with consultancy firm SPP and put to the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on 5 November 2008. The first Board meeting was held on 30 March 2010. Professor Emeritus David Penington AC served as the first Chair of the Board from 2010 to 2013. He was succeeded by Professor Mark Hargreaves. Professor Anthony N. Burkitt served as Director for the duration of BVA. The National Vision Research Institute, the Australian National University, the University of Western Sydney and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital were variously supporting, participating, or project partners. The aim was to develop a functional retinal prosthesis or “bionic eye” capable of restoring vision to people with vision impairment due to retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration. The assembled team comprised experts in the fields of ophthalmology, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, neuroscience, vision science, psychophysics, wireless integrated-circuit design, and surgical, preclinical and clinical practice. UNSW was a key player in the consortium, developing the first advanced prototype, and leading the consortium’s commercialisation activities through NewSouth Innovations and the company Bionic Vision Technologies Pty Ltd (BVT). The University of Melbourne was designated Administering Organisation for the grant, with the Executive team based in the Melbourne School of Engineering. In December 2009, BVA secured funding through a four-year, $42 million grant administered by the Australian Research Council (ARC), effective from 1 January 2010. The funds were made available through a Special Research Initiative in Bionic Vision Science and Technology established by the Australian Government. In July 2013, ARC offered another year of funding to BVA. BVA’s ARC funding period ended at the end of 2014. There was enough capital to extend the consortium, continue efforts to commercialise through BVT, and perform National Health and Medical Research Council-funded trials in 2015.     Description
    The Ad Hoc Committee to Report on First Year Teaching of Computing to Science-based Students was established after Vice-Chancellor Rupert Myers wrote to Professor Rex Vowels on 29 September 1980 requesting him to convene such a committee.     This series consists of minutes, agendas and papers of the Graduate Studies Program Sub-Committee of the Higher Degree Committee of the Faculty of Commerce. The material is typed and maintained in chronological order in a manila folder. The minutes indicate meeting date, time and place; those present and apologies; matters discussed and resolutions passed by the Committee. The University Archives only holds minutes for three Committee meetings, all of which are copies. Papers do, however, exist for more meetings than the Archives possesses minutes for.

    Description
    This series consists of the Washbottle / Technichem Journal of the Sydney Technical College Science Association. Each item is either a typed booklet or a small bundle of typed sheets, which were published by the Association to promote cooperation and community amongst members. The original publication, The Washbottle, contains news of the Association and articles of general interest to members, whereas the Technichem Journal has a greater focus on academic articlesby way of a forum system. The University Archives holds very few issues of either journal. The numbering system between issues is not consistent, which makes it difficult to know how many issues are missing.

    This series consists of the minutes of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Academic Performance of Students in the First Year of the B. Sc. (Ed.) Course of the Professorial Board. The material is typed and arranged in a manilla folder. The minutes indicate meeting date, time and place; those present and apologies; matters discussed and resolutions passed by the Committee. The minutes for only one meeting of the Committee are held by the University Archives. This is a copy, as it has not been signed as approved by the Committee Chair.

    This series consists of the Studentspeak Newsletter of the Committee for Student Action. Each item is a typed newsletter or newsheet, which was produced by the Committee. The Archives only holds on edition of the publication, which mainly discusses the War in Vietnam. It is unclear how long this Newsletter was produced.

    This series consists of the minutes and agendas of the Ad Hoc Committee to Review Policy Concerning the Award of Medals of the Professorial Board. The material is typed and arranged in a manilla folder in chronological order. For each meeting, the minutes for that meeting normally appear first, followed by the agenda. The minutes indicate meeting date, time and place; those present and apologies; matters discussed and resolutions passed by the Committee, while the agendas show the issues that were to be addressed. All the minutes are copies, as they have not been signed as approved by the Chair of the Committee at a subsequent Committee meeting.
