    This series consists of minutes, agendas and papers of the Sub-Committee to Examine the Academic Implications of the Teaching of Finance of the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Commerce. The material is typed and maintained in chronological order in a manila folder. The minutes indicate meeting date, time and place; those present and apologies; matters discussed and resolutions passed by the Committee.

    Description
    This series consists of the Drumbeat Newsletter of the Real Students Club. Each item is a typed booklet, which contains articles relating to the Club. The Real Students Club was formed to provide a non-partisan, social-justice focussed, philosophical and political club, and this is to be reflected in their newsletter. The Editorial in the first issue of this publication predicts only a short lifespan for Drumbeat, but it is unlcear how long it was produced for. The Archives holds only two issues of this publication.

    Description
    This series contains the official signed minutes of the Board of Management of the Institute of Administration. The material is typed and arranged in folders in chronological order. The minutes indicate meeting date, time and place; those present and apologies; matters discussed and resolutions passed by the Board. The minutes for each meeting have been signed as approved by the Chair of the Board at a subsequent Board meeting. The University Archives' holdings of this series are very incomplete as there are many meetings that the Archives does not hold minutes for. Copies of minutes, as well as the Board's agendas and papers, can be located in series 113.

    This series consists of agendas, papers and copies of minutes of the Board of Management of the Institute of Administration. Documents are typed and are arranged in chronological order in folders. For each meeting, a copy of the minutes for that meeting normally appears first, followed by the agenda and any attached papers that were circulated to members along with the agenda prior to the meeting. The agendas show the issues that were to be addressed, while the papers consist of reports or other submissions that were to be discussed by the Committee. The official signed minutes for the Board are maintained in series 112.

Committees covered include the First Year Committee, the Appointment Review Appeal Committee and the First Year Teaching Arrangements Committee, while policies discussed include personnel issues and subject reviews. Full title from import file: Engineering Dean's Advisory Committee (EDAC) ( - 1986)/ Dean's Advisory Committee (DAC) of the Faculty of Engineering (1986 - 2008) / Dean's Engineering Management Committee of the Faculty of Engineering (2008 - 2010) / Dean's Executive Management Committee of the Faculty of Engineering (2010 - ) </import_note> The exact starting date of the Engineering Dean's Advisory Committee (EDAC) is unknown but it was in place by 2nd March 1971, which is the earliest meeting the University Archives holds minutes of. EDAC was originally confined to professors in the faculty but later developed into a forum for the exchange of information and ideas. When N.L. Svensson was dean of the faculty (1981 - 1988) he often invited outside speakers to the meetings in order to discuss speicific issues. A recommendation contained in paragraph 10.12 of the Draft Report of December 1983 of the Review of the Faculties of Applied Science, Biological Sciences, Engineering and Science proposed the development of an advisory committee to the dean of each faculty with adequate representation from all schools as well as the heads of schools. These committees were to comprise the dean, heads of schools, chairmen of faculties and elected school representatives, and should meet monthly except in January and perhaps in one other month. The then Vice-Chancellor indicated that through the establishment of Dean's Advisory Committees, each dean should have regular opportunities to provide information to, and receive advice from, all heads of schools in the faculty and from one other member of each school elected by that school. These exchanges should be about the operation and extension of the academic programmes of the faculty and its schools. The first meeting of the Dean's Advisory Committee of the Faculty of Engineering took place on 7th February 1986. From the 16 May 2008 meeting, the Committee became known as the Dean's Engineering Management Committee to better reflect the involvement of the Heads of School and Faculty Executive in the management of the Faculty. The material is typed and is maintained in manila folders. Documents are generally arranged in chronological order, but occasionally minutes and papers from a later meeting date have been placed prior to items from an earlier meeting. The minutes are normally presented first, followed by the agenda and any papers that were circulated prior to the meeting. The minutes indicate meeting date, time and place; those present and apologies; matters discussed and resolutions passed by the Board. The series reflects the Committee's change of name from Advanced & Extension Studies to Continuing Education on 1st July, 1980. Documents are typed and are arranged in chronological order in manilla folders. For each meeting, a copy of the minutes for that meeting normally appears first, followed by the agenda and any attached papers that were circulated to members along with the agenda prior to the meeting. The agendas show the issues that were to be addressed, while the papers consist of reports or other submissions that were to be discussed by the Committee. The minutes are copies, as they have not been signed by the Committee Chairman. The University Archives' holdings of this series are not complete, with gaps occurring between 1977 - 1981 and 1985 - 1988. The original signed minutes for this series can be found in series 85.

    On 1 August 2000 the Academic Board recommended to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) that the Clive and Vera Ramaciotti Centre for Gene Function Analysis be established in the Faculty of Life Sciences (resolution AB00/63). This was approved by the Vice-Chancellor on 18 August 2000. Although also including research odes at the University of Sydney, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Macquarie University, University of Newcastle, University of Western Sydney, Garvan Institute for Medical Research, Kolling Institute, the New Children's Hospital and the Westmead Millennium Institute, the main core facility of the Centre was located at UNSW within the Faculty of Life Sciences. A major aim of the Centre was to become a major focus for research in Functional Genomics in Australia. Professor Ian Dawes was appointed as the initial Acting Director (file 001750). On 18 Jun, 2001 Council resolved to disestablish the Faculty of Life Sciences and create a new single model Faculty of Science effective from 1 July, 2001- including the Clive and Vera Ramaciotti Centre for Gene Function Analysis (resolution CL001/49).     Description
    This series contains the Proceedings of the Asia Leaders' Forums of the Asia-Australia Institute. Each item in the series is a paper-bound booklet, containing the proceedings and report of the Asia Leader's Forum. The Forum was held annually and (as outlined in the introduction to the 1995 proceedings) is an intellectual or 'think-tank' Forum for a small number of political, business and other leaders from the Asian region. The objective is to give high level regional leaders a context for private intellectual engagement, in which to generate and test new ideas on issues of fundamental importance to the region's future. In a 2002 report the forum was described as an annual small-scale private high level meeting of regional leaders from government, business, the media, education, research institutes and NGOs, which discuss major issues that will shape the future of the Asian region, including the development of regionalism and regional institutions. The Institute's Advisory Council also met in conjuction with the forums (Report to the Reference Group on the Future of the AAI, 5 June 2002, file 2002/3420).
