    Description
    The exact starting date of the Liaison Committee of the Schools of Civil Engineering and Transport and Highways is unknown but it was in place by 11th September 1979, which was the earliest meeting date of the committee the University Archives holds minutes of. The committee was formed to consider the pros and cons of an amalgamation of the School of Transport and Highways into the School of Civil Engineering as an independent department. The committee was to investigate the desirability of the integration, from both a global and local view point; the feasibility of such a move; the mechanics / logistics of the move; and the time scale involved. The committee consisted of the heads of the two schools, heads of departments within the schools, and senior academic staff. Meetings were called on an ad-hoc basis whenever the need arose.

    This series consists of the Annual Reports of the School of Transport and Highways (1977 - 1980) / Department of Transport Engineering (1980 - 1998). Each item is typed and either stapled or paper-bound, and contains information on the activities and performance of the Department over the year. The Archives does not have a complete collection of these publications.

    This series comprises the School of Traffic Engineering / School of Transportation and Traffic's annual reports to the Committee and minutes of the meetings of the Visiting Committee for the School of Traffic Engineering / School of Transportation and Traffic as presented to Council. Occasionally there are minutes only for the reporting year. Annual reports by the head of school for these years can be found in S719.

    This series contains media coverage of Emeritus Professor Ross Blunden. The material consists of a scapbook containing news cuttings, as well as a file with photocopies of news cuttings and a transcript of a radio news commentary delivered by Professor Blunden. The items cover major aspects of Professor Blunden's career and also highlight his role as a commentator on transport engineering and land use issues, including the Institute of Highway and Traffic Research.
