    Description
    On 19 December 1994 the Department of Design Studies was redesignated the School of Design Studies in the College of Fine Arts with effect from 1 January 1995 (Council resolution CL94/104b). On 3 December 2013 the Academic Board recommended the establishment of the School of the College of Fine Arts in the College of Fine Arts and the consequent disestablishment of the schools of Art, Art History and Art Education, Design Studies and Media Arts with effect from 1 January 2014 (resolution AB13/84).     Description
    On 3 November 1992 the Academic Board endorsed the establishment of the Centre for Thrombosis and Vascular Research within the Faculty of Medicine (resolution 92/59ii). This was approved by the Vice-Chancellor on 25 November 1992. The aim of the Centre was to coordinate and develop research into the causes and treatment of occlusive vascular disease and thrombosis (file 921732). The founding director of the Centre was Professor C. N. Chesterman. On 1 April 2003 the Academic Board recommended the change in name of the centre to the Centre for Vascular Research (resolution AB03/8). At the same time the Centre was restructured, bringing in collaborative researchers from the Australian National University and Monash University. On 16 February 2007 this collaboration was also extended to the University of Sydney (http://www.cvr.net.au/ - accessed 20 May 2008). On 21 July 2015 the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) approved the closure of the Centre (file 2013/17487). Controlling Organisation: UNSW - 25/11/1992-21/07/2015.

    Description
    The creation of the Centre for Management Accounting Development within the School of Accounting was recommended at the 7 August 1990 meeting of the Academic Board (resolution 90/50). The Centre's main focus was to develop the quality of management accounting practice in Australia and thereby the productivity and competitiveness of Australian organisations. Professor Bill Birkett was appointed as the first director of the Centre. At the 6 November 1990 meeting of the Academic Board, however, a change in the name of the Centre to the Australian Centre for Management Accounting Development (ACMAD) was proposed. This was approved by the Acting Vice-Chancellor on 7 December 1990 (file 901689). On 8 April 2003 the then director of ACMAD, Associate Professor Michael Briers, wrote to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), advising her that the centre had been disestablished effective from the end of 2002 (file 962169).     Description
    On 10 August 1995 the Academic Board recommended the establishment of the Centre for Advanced Empirical Software Research (CAESAR) within the Faculty of Commerce & Economics (resolution AB95/75). This was approved by the Acting Vice-Chancellor on 6 September 1995. The first director of the Centre was Professor Ross Jeffrey. The main aim of the Centre was to act as a focus for Australian empirical research into the modelling, measurement and management of software engineering processes and products (file 951770). On 3 April 2001 the Academic Board recommended the change in name of the Centre to the Centre for Advanced Software Engineering Research (CAESER) (resolution AB01/17). This was approved by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & International) on 23 April 2001. On 2 December 2002 the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) noted the closure of the Centre (file 002046).     The Chancellor's Committee was formed by Council at its 4th June, 1990 meeting, with this ruling effective from 1st July, 1990 (CL90/45). The first meeting of the Committee was held on 2nd July, 1990 and it had a membership of four - the Chancellor (the Presiding Member), Deputy Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and the President of the Academic Board. Meetings were held every month, with the Committee's responsibilities being: - To consider the recommendations of the Planning Committee, Finance Committee, Student Affairs Committee and Academic Board; and, where appropriate, to recommend to Council the course which should be followed in relation to any other matters raised by the Vice-Chancellor or which the Chancellor's Committee itself might raise; and, in so doing, to determine the structure and content of Council agendas, ensuring that appropriate documents and precise recommendations are presented to Council and ensuring that, whenever possible, major proposals together with accompanying documents be submitted to Council at least one meeting prior to the meeting at which the final decision of Council is required. - On the advice of the Vice-Chancellor, to approve the appointment of University representatives on external or subsidiary organisations or bodies. - To consider staff matters about which the Vice-Chancellor wishes to have advice. - To consider such other matters as Council may determine from time to time. - To exercise such powers as Council may delegate - To exercise the powers currently delegated by Council to the Personnel Sub-Committee, being satisfied that the Vice-Chancellor or delegate has undertaken all appropriate consultation with unions. In 2002 a review of the Council's Standing Committees was conducted. As a result, at the 26th August, 2002 Council meeting, it was resolved that the Chancellor's Committee's Terms of Reference were (resolution CL002/74aiii): 1. To advise Council on strategic activities that will promote the objects and interests of the University. 2. To determine the priorities and structure of Council Agendas, Meetings, Workshops, Retreats and Development Activities. 3. To advise Council on Standing Committees of Council. 4. To make nominations and approve appointments on behalf of Council to external, subsidiary or associated organisations or bodies. 5. To review and advise on any matters raised by the Vice-Chancellor. 6. To review and advise on any matters raised by Council 7. To exercise such powers as Council may delegate. 8. These Terms of Reference and the functioning of the Committee should be subject to a periodic review of Council, including self-assessment by the Committee, to ensure that it is operating effectively and fulfilling its functions.     On 6 October 2009 the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) approved the creation of the Australian Tsunami Research Centre (file 2009/3150). On 3 November 2009 the Academic Board noted its establishment, which was effective immediately (resolution AB09/145). The Centre was located within the Faculty of Science and the initial joint directors were Associate Professor Dale Dominey-Howes and Professor James Goff. The main purpose of the Centre was to act as a catalyst to engage groups across UNSW with complementary skills and expertise in tsunami related matters (file 2009/3150). On 6 September 2011 the Academic Board noted the change of name of the Centre to the Australia-Pacific Tsunami Research Centre (resolution AB11/130). Controlling Organisation: UNSW - 06/10/2009-

    On 2 November 2010 the Academic Board recommended that the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and President of Academic Board approve the proposal to establish a School of Aviation, (replacing the Department of Aviation) effective 1 January 2011 (resolution AB10/112). This was approved on 22 November 2010. Professor Jason Middleton was the first head of school. In 2014 Professor Jason Middleton remained the Head of the School of Aviation.     At the 2 August 2011 Academic Board meeting it was recommended that the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President of the Academic Board approve the establishment of the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies (replacing the Actuarial Studies Unit) in the Australian School of Business, effective 1 January 2012 (resolution AB11/46). This was approved on 9 August 2011 (file 2011/04228). The initial Head of School was Associate Professor John Evans. On 2 July 2014 the Vice-Chancellor's Advisory Committee approved a change in name of the faculty to the UNSW Australia Business School, effective from 23 July 2014.
