On 4 June 1996 the Academic Board gave its support to the proposal to create a European Law Centre (resolution AB96/42). This was approved by the Vice-Chancellor on 19 June 1996. The main aim of the Centre was to advance research and graduate study of European Law and European legal and political institutions. The Centre was located in the Faculty of Law and its first director was Dr Stephen Hall (file 961213). On 12 February 2008 the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) approved a name change of the Centre to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of Law effective from 1 March 2008 (file 961213). Following a review of the Centre in late 2010, it was recommended that it be discontinued as a research centre, but that the centre's participants should continue under a non-centre badge. This appears to have occurred with the re-creation of the Centre as the Network for Interdisciplinary Studies of Law in approximately February 2011 (file 2010/04757). On 23 July 2001 as part of the creation of the School of Medical Sciences, Council the School of Physiology & Pharmacology was disestablished, effective 1 August 2001, along with the schools of Anatomy and Pathology (resolution CL001/61d). As part of this change, however, on 3 July 2001 the Academic Board had earlier recommended the concurrent establishment of the departments of Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology and Pathology within the School of Medical Sciences, effective from 1 August 2001 (resolution AB01/31). This was approved by the Vice-Chancellor on 20 July 2001 (file 922132) and thus the Department of Physiology & Pharmacology came into being. In mid-2007 the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology appears to have been split into the separate departments of Physiology and Pharmacology and so the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology ceased to exist from this time. On 31 October 1994 Council resolved to replace the School of French with a Department of French within the School of Modern Language Studies in the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences effective from 1 January 1995 (resolution CL94/86c). As part of a Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences restructure, the School of Modern Language Studies was re-named the School of Languages and Linguistics effective 31 January 2007 (6 February 2007 Academic Board papers). As part of this restructure, it was deemed that no school was to establish a departmental structure (Principles of Government-Feb 2007 in SRF - Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) and discipline advisors were instead created for each area of study. Consequently the Department of French as an independent entity ceased to exist from this date. Controlling Organisation: UNSW - 01/01/1995-31/01/2007
