Description
The Faculty of Medicine was formally approved by Council on 11th July, 1960 (resolution 60/62i). Functions within the Faculty had, however, already been in operation, with the first Dean, Professor F. F. Rundle, being appointed from 1st May, 1960, and the inaugural Faculty meeting taking place on 23rd June, 1960. The initial schools within the Faculty were Anatomy, Medicine, Pathology, Physiology and Surgery. In 2013 the Faculty of Medicine, administered by Dean Professor Peter Smith, included four Schools, five Clinical Schools and eighteen Centres.
